Madam Speaker: Weren't you a prosecutor once? With as much evidence of Russian agency was present against anyone else, would you have hesitated to arrest him?

Remember how we beat W in 2004 because we did not debate personal accounts? How the GOP picked up seats in 1998 because they were going to impeach Clinton? How we had that vote on raising taxes on the rich in 2010 to keep Congress? This is the same kind of bonehead play.

People liked Clinton and even GOP members voted to acquit. They disliked Bush and hated Cheney. The Senate had the GOP votes and still did not get Johnson. They did not have 2/3rds to get Nixon and he had just won a landslide. The lesson of history is that each time is unique.

They ended up hating Nixon. They hate Trump more. Pelosi cites 2016 as proof of some Democratic policy victory. Wrong lesson. It was about getting Trump. That is the practicality. Don't impeach and a disgusted nation stays home in 2030. That is the practical point.

Private to @SpeakerPelosi: remember this face who called you Madame Future President at the Tax and Job Cuts Act rally? I recall w things: 1, you smiled. 2, no one took that tack in the debate and the bill passed. Listen this time. Not acting will have people stay home in 2020.

Poo-pooing our outrage is no way to get our votes in 2020. We put her back into the Speakership to try. Be with the sentiment. Defending her does not help. We have gotten to 58 anti-Trump votes without offering any chairmanships. That could yield 8 more.

Look at 2016 again. ID any state with a GOP Senator where the total number of Democratic House votes was more than the total number of Republican votes. Approach those Senators privately.

They vote for courage, not for those who play the right politics. Impeach the clown.
