America: House Republicans seek to force a vote on born alive abortion measure
A few quick comments. I see comments were turned off. A wise choice. There will be a flame war and the trolls will be out in force on the Facebook page.
Extraordinary measures, like a ventilator, are never required for for natural birth, induction or another kind of late term abortion. After 20 weeks, induction should be the only method and if the child is struggling to breathe, administer palliative care.
If Catholic hospitals dislike a lesser standard of care, they should perform these procedures. God us not an Ogre. Sometimes ending a pregnancy us best for all, including the child. Baptize the poor dear and tenderly send her to Heaven.
This bill is a second try at an effort that was started when Obama was only an Illinois state senator. We were all much younger then. Now we are grey.
This bill is the Pro-Life Movement looking busy to keep the money flowing in. It is mainly electoral, likely because of the way Clinton flubbed a partial birth abortion question in the debate gave the bishops a chance to pounce in the Midwest. All that Trump has done is now on their heads, including border detention and, unless they publicly take responsibility for it and repent of their complicity, their crocodile tears.
This is also an attempt to get a rehearing on Roe. They need to be careful what they wish for. An 8-1 loss on that question would doom the movement. While Congress can act, doing so would not raise the issue of state sovereignty, which would put all of civil rights law in danger and take us back to Plessy. It will not even ban late term abortion. It would establish a dangerous right to require treatment if affirmed. Luckily it will never pass.
The kind of passive Euthanasia it attacks is allowed under Catholic Doctrine. The bill is an extremist position which probes the USCCB and Archbishop Naumann are whoring for the Republicans. We knew he was an extremist when elected. Pope Francis, call the Nuncio and retire this bishop.
